TELL US YOUR CRAFT
TBW: Who or what inspired you to start writing?
RM: My mom got me a subscription to Writer’s Life magazine [and] I started reading the articles and got motivated.
TBW: Why did you choose this genre? And Would you consider expanding into other genres?
RM: I love erotic romance and feel every book can benefit from some level of romance in the plot. I have written erotic,
historical and now contemporary. I have an idea for a paranormal series I would like to do as well.
TBW: How do you pace yourself when you write? When you’ve completed your work do you self edit?
RM: I take frequent breaks and a long walk most mornings. If it’s too hot, I will have a swim. [When I’ve completed a work
I self edit], very much so. I write, then go over and over the sections before I am satisfied.
TBW: How important is cover art to you? Did Naked’s cover art meet your expectations?
RM: [Cover art is extremely important]. I struggled with my first 2 covers at Siren Publishing. Let’s just say that the people at
Siren knew I was “the picky author” in regards to her covers. [Naked met my expectations] and then some. I actually
found the woman’s photograph on a stock photography site and sent it to Kim Killion. [I] told her I wanted the London
skyline at the bottom and she took it from there. Hot Damn Designs is amazing. I love the cover she did for Part 2 just
as much.
TBW: Do you recommend and/or prefer to work with a publishing house over self publishing? If you self publish what steps do you take to
publish your work?
RM: Well, self publishing has been far, far more lucrative for me. My first foray into publishing I searched the net for
publishing houses and read the guidelines for submissions, tried my best and sent the manuscript off. I got seven
rejections and the eighth one was “the call”.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW SERIES
TBW: What was the character inspiration?
RM: I found the image one day while looking for something for a cover on another story. I was very taken with the
beautiful nude portrait. I just got a flash about what it would be like, as a nude model, to get to meet the man who
bought your picture. Other inspiring things were the Olympics going on while I was writing the book, and I loved the
idea of Ethan having to be responsible for all those high profile celebrities that show up to big events like that.
TBW: We see the struggle that Brynne is experiencing by dating Ethan. Will you elaborate in book two how Brynne is able to push through
her negative past and open to Ethan? Will we learn more about Ethan’s past or Brynne’s ex?
RM: Oh yes, [Brynne’s past as well as Ethan’s] comes right to the forefront quickly. They both have past traumas that have
shaped them into the people they are. And you will learn about [Brynne’s ex later in the series]. We will get to meet
Ethan’s family—his father and his sister. And we will get to see into his past with his experiences in Afghanistan.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEXT STEPS
TBW: Do you have any major press/media events in the near future to promote book two or a new series? And will there be a third book?
RM: I will do another Release Day Diva party for All In on Facebook. [And] yes, [the third book] is entitled, Eyes Wide Open.
TBW: Are you working on a new series?
RM: The new series is called The Rothvale Legacy and features the love story of Gabrielle (Brynne’s roommate) and Ivan
(we will meet him in Book 2 of The Blackstone Affair). I plan to have Brynne and Ethan still be on the page in this
series, so we’ll get to see them around.
